Personally, this is one of the greatest TV series I've ever watched. I'm almost finished with the series, and I can't even describe how much I love it.
It's intense and love most of the characters. Even the ones I hate have redeeming qualities. Thoughts? :3

I assume Steven got you interested in it, so I take all the credit for introducing you to this awesome series! Seriously though it's kind of a tv show I always wanted to see. Like, when I was a kid and played out tv shows or whatever and made up my own, this would have been the most awesome thing I could have ever imagined, and I don't think there's ever been a sci fi quite this adult, deep or entertaining on television.
In a related note, Game of Thrones just came out on HBO as a new series, and is one of my favourite book series of all time. Check it out!

Yeah, Steven was the one who nagged at me to watch it and as soon as I saw it I was hooked. Like, from the very first time I watched it.
I mean, ffs, I watched 12 episodes yesterday alone. I'll definitely check out Game of Thrones!
Also suppose I should thank you for introducing me to this show vicariously.
Who was your favorite character, out of curiosity?

I'm in the last season now, and I dig it a fair amount. I can't count how many times this show has made me drop my jaw. Rofl.

Cylons aren't really any different than humans. That's one of the points, I think. There's this other that we struggle and fight against. It tries to destroy us, we try to oppress it. And yet there's more in common than we realize.
In fact, you could interpret it as a swipe at colonialism/neo-colonialism. The monsters that we create, that we use and abuse, will come back to destroy us. And they're just like us.
There's plenty of ways to interpret this show and many other sci-fi shows, for deeper meaning.

What I find most amusing about the show is that humanity is almost completely destroyed, and they all have to unite together in order to survive, but the same petty arguments and conflicts tear them apart, even in the midst of their own holocaust.

Because if they all united together and didn't have normal issues ontop of extraordinary issues we wouldn't be able to relate to it as well.

Wow. You're terrible. It is way more intellectual than fucking star trek. You should give it a better chance than that.

Definitely recommend you watch a few more. I'd say the characters are very developed, and the whole show is interesting. Give it a few more before you decide it's shit.

Let me know when you have a final verdict.

I won't judge you if you dislike the show, just saying it deserves more time!

I will definitely judge you if you think star trek is better. It needs to at least have like the first five episodes seen before you can give up on it.

My mom still says Star Trek is better. But she's only seen the original BSG, and only a few episodes here and there. :l Insufficient.

If you've watched the episode where they're constantly counting down and don't like what you've seen then you're just not gonna like it. Your approach is hilarious though. Jesus Christ, Thinkbot.

He's not exactly highly emotional. He was tricked into nearly destroying his entire race. Emotion might be the appropriate response?
You're right, she is manipulative and he is passive, but that relationship goes both ways for them later on.
Religion is part of life and so it has a place in the show. It doesn't try to overtly preach to anyone as there are different people with a bunch of different kinds of beliefs.
In fact, one of the cylons is an atheist though their entire race is supposed to be fanatically religious. You're out to find negative things so I'll give up now, but suffice to say its the best Science Fiction show I've ever seen.

Firefly and Farscape ARE good. And I think they are better than star trek or any other sci fi show, for sure. (Barring BSG) But I think because Firefly was cut so short there's no way to really tell what it was, unfortunately. It seemed to hold GREAT promise. As for Farscape, that was also actually cut short, though not as short as Firefly, thank goodness. It was amazing and I'd say it was probably a close second to BSG though the two are fairly different.
I think if Firefly were allowed to go on I'd probably think that was my favorite of all-time. But we'll never know because Fox sucks.
