I found this website that lets you browse through different animes (it's almost like the Wikipedia of anime). You can mark animes as: Watching, Watched, Want to Watch, Stalled, Dropped, Stalled, Won't Watch. After you compile your list, it tells you how many hours/days/weeks/months of your life you've wasted on anime. I'm sitting on about a week's worth. Here's my list:
Well the problem with Akira was that it was a 3 part story and the movie focused a lot on the 1st then crammed a bunch of shit from 2 and 3 in and left out the logic.

I recommend:
Neon Genesis Evangelion (a masterpiece) Also; Evangelion, The four part reboot of the series. If you didn't like the original for some fucked reason, you'll like the reboot. They've made it even better.
Berserk, fucking EPIC although it's missing the last episode because the company went bankrupt before finishing it BUT rumors are someone bought the rights to finish it...idk. The manga book series has the ending.
Trinity Blood, very awesome and amusing and super likeable characters. You'll get hooked on this one.
Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Panic The Second Raid, and Full Metal Panic Fumofu, watch all three series. You won't regret it. Mech fighting terrorists, High school comedy antics, and a kinda love story but not (weird and hard to explain).
Final Fantasy Unlimited, weird story, over the top CG battle scenes, cliche hero ending...kinda. If you like Final Fantasy at all, you'll dig this. If not, you might like it due to it's weird amusing factor. It's VERY japanese lol.

I used to attend an anime club in Montgomery. They showed the ending episode. ...They had to make anyone under 18+ to have consent forms to watch the last episode...

The trailer isn't in English, So I will tell you it's an anime about a boy who is living in an era where they have androids do all the work, But he stumbles across a secret cafe where androids and people are considered equal and androids acting and expressing human emotions.
I'm actually downloading all of Initial D for Thomas (my boyfriend). He doesn't usually like anime, but he loves Initial D. He even also bought a Trueno. The link for the live action, anime, and movie torrents is here. I'll seed it, but it's going pretty slow because there's not many seeders to start.
