I'm in the middle of The Last Night of the Earth Poems. I read a lot of Love is a Dog from Hell, too. I absolutely love him. Anyone else?

I'm just plain broke
17,
no job
I'll probably end up on disability for a little while once I turn 18
But 90% of that check is going to Chuck Bukowski

I think I'm going to start selling my prescriptions to fund that.

I'm not much of a reader but Post Office, South of No North, Factotum and Women incredible books.
Women is alittle extreme but it's still great.

I carry three poems in my wallet at all times, and 'Bluebird' is one of them.

Today I bought a novel by Bukowski, Pulp. Anyone read it?
I also bought Jack Kerouac's On the Road...

DITTO. I'm building my library of Anne Carson, Waldman, Vonnegut and Bukowski right now.

No one crucify me, but I could never really get into Vonnegut. I've tried on numerous occasions, but I just can't stay interested. I wonder why?

Bukowski, on the other hand, is a favorite of mine.

I wouldn't crucify you based on personal taste, . I always nearly get killed everytime I tell someone that I loathe Shakespeare. I also only really like two of Poe's poems (and it isn't as much LIKE as respect for the technical quality), and two of his short stories.

What books have you read of his? I have a Vonnegut tattoo on my back, so I'm a hopeless fan girl...

I've honestly only really tried "Slaughterhouse-Five" - and by tried, I mean got even remotely far into the novel. In the past, I've picked up a few of his other books while at the library, only to give up on them after reading the first couple of pages.

Mind you, I haven't looked into him much since my senior year of high school - and I'm now a sophomore in college. I consider trying him again just about every time I see one of his books.

Any recommendations? I feel like I'm missing out - so many people adore Vonnegut!

(Eh, apologies for getting slightly off-topic here!)
